GOTR-DC's 5K is June1: Here's Everything You Need to Know

We’re so excited to celebrate an amazing season with our girls, families, and community at the upcoming 5K! Here's everything you need to know.

Sunday, June 1 at Anacostia Park - Rain or shine! Please check the weather and dress appropriately.

  • Pre-Race Festivities: Begin at 7:00 a.m.

  • 5K Kickoff: Begins at 8:00 a.m.

Important: Parents/guardians must register to run or walk with their child. Only registered participants with a bib are allowed on the course.

Same-day registration will be available until 7:50 a.m. (Online credit card only.)


πŸ—ΊοΈ Getting There

By Metro:

  • Take the Green Line to Anacostia Station

  • Exit toward “Parking Kiss & Ride”

  • Walk 5–10 minutes from the Anacostia Metro parking garage to the pre-race area

  • Check WMATA for any potential delays

 

By Car:

  • Free parking is available at the Anacostia Metro parking garage

  • For GPS address use: 894 Howard Rd SE

  • Note: Anacostia Park will be closed to vehicle traffic. You cannot park inside the park.

  • ADA parking will be available where Marion Barry Ave. enters to Anacostia Park.

 

By Uber or Drop-Off:

  • Use 1107 Marion Barry Ave SE for drop-offs

  • It’s a short walk down Marion and Barry Ave. into the park


🎽 Race Bib Pick-Up

  • All registered runners and Buddy Runners should visit the Packet Pick-Up Tent between 7:00–7:50 a.m.

  • Girls on the Run - DC program participants will receive their bibs and safety pins from their Coaches at their Team Meeting Area.


πŸ“ Meeting Your Team

  • Look for the Purple, Green, or Pink index signs (e.g. Purple 1, Purple 2, Pink 1, Pink 2 etc.) to find your designated meeting zone Click here to check your team’s color-coded location.

  • After the 5K, teams will return to this area to celebrate, receive medals, and take photos.

 

Note:

  • Only registered Spring 2025 program participants will receive a medal.

  • All other registered runners/walkers will receive a race premium at the Packet Pick-Up Tent.


🚨 Additional Reminders

  • Balloons are not permitted in the park per National Park Service regulations.

  • Dogs are welcome at the event but not allowed to participate in the race.
    They must be on a non-retractable leash and up-to-date on vaccinations.

  • Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome. Please line up at the back of the start line for safety.
