Looking for a 5K in Washington, DC this fall? The Girls on the Run-DC Community 5K returns Sunday, November 22, 2026, at The Fields at RFK, bringing together participants, families, friends, and community members for a morning that is about much more than reaching the finish line.

This year’s theme, Celebrate Your Start, recognizes that every start matters.

For Girls on the Run-DC participants, stepping up to the starting line represents weeks of showing up, trying new things, building confidence, connecting with their teammates, and seeing what they are capable of. For community runners and walkers, the 5K is also a chance to be part of that celebration and experience one of DC’s most encouraging community running events.

A 5K for Runners, Walkers, Families and Supporters

You do not have to be part of a Girls on the Run-DC team to participate.

Community members are invited to run or walk alongside teams from across Washington, DC and parts of Prince George’s County, Maryland. The event is not timed, making it a welcoming option whether you are an experienced runner, trying your first 5K, walking with family or friends, or simply looking for a fun fall 5K in DC.

Early-bird registration is available through Sunday, October 11.

More Than a Finish Line

Our Community 5K is the culminating event for Girls on the Run-DC’s fall program. Throughout the program, girls in grades 3–8 participate in lessons that combine movement with conversations and activities designed to help them build confidence, strengthen relationships, navigate challenges, and practice skills they can use in everyday life.

Along the way, teams also prepare to complete a 5K.

That preparation is about more than increasing distance. Participants practice setting goals, encouraging one another, working through difficult moments, and recognizing their own progress.

By the time they arrive at The Fields at RFK, they have already had plenty of reasons to celebrate. The starting line gives them one more.
