"I really love the mission of Girls on the Run - DC, and that it creates a space for girls to come together and encourage one another. Running has so many mental and physical benefits, and I am excited to see that an organization wants to enhance that experience and encourage girls to create lifelong practices around health and community. As a child, I never enjoyed running as an activity - usually it took place in the context of a gym class and with an emphasis on speed and time. After I graduated from college, I took up running as a way to manage stress and create stability in my life, and began to enjoy it as a mental and physical exercise for the first time in my life. I wish that I had discovered that feeling sooner, and I love how GOTR-DC encourages girls to see running as a source of health, joy, and community. I can empathize with the frustrations some girls might feel towards running, and I hope that I help them overcome some of those obstacles to find strength and fulfillment in their abilities. This spring will be the first time that I am returning to the same school as a member of Team Adelaide. It has been fun to meet teams from across DC over the past few seasons, but I am so excited to see how this team has grown and to continue to build relationships with the girls and the coaches!"
