Tell Your GOTR-DC Story: Meet Coach Kristin

In today's 𝑪𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝑺𝒑𝒐𝒕𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 we'd like you to meet Kristin from our Lincoln Park Community team. During a fall 2021 season site visit, we asked her a few questions about her GOTR-DC coaching experience.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚 𝐆𝐎𝐓𝐑-𝐃𝐂 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡?
I love working with young girls and love that GOTR-DC helps them develop both personally and with fitness.

𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧.
All the little moments of watching a girl be so excited about achieving her goal that she set for herself. Whether it is running one whole lap or running 50 laps that week.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧?
Expressing your emotions. It was a GREAT lesson for the girls, and a good reminder for me! Being able to clearly express yourself and your emotions can be difficult and watching the girls apply it to real life examples is so important.

𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐆𝐎𝐓𝐑-𝐃𝐂 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞.
We all get caught up in our day-to-day activities and GOTR-DC coach has been an amazing opportunity for me to remember how important and rewarding it is to help other people, no matter who they are or what it is, whether it is just helping them with an activity, talking them through a problem, or encouraging them as they work towards achieving a goal.

We've said it before, and we'll say it again, our volunteer coaches are the pulse of our organization. We're grateful to benefit from their desire to make a difference in their community.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐘𝐎𝐔, 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐊𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧, 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐮𝐧 - 𝐃𝐂!
