Register for the Girls on the Run - DC Community 5K and you'll not only support your community but experience a fun run that will bring a smile to your face! The Community 5K is:
Every season Girls on the Run - DC relies on over 150 volunteers to make our celebratory 5K a success. We depend on volunteers to serve as greeters, course marshals, manage the start and finish line, water stops, and much more. We have a job for everyone that wants to help.
Girls on the Run requires that every girl must run the 5K with an adult. However, many of our participants do not have a family member to run the race with them. Therefore, we rely on community members to fill the shoes of a Buddy Runner, and run the race with a girl. As a Buddy Runner, you will be assigned to run with a Girls on the Run participant. After you submit your 5K registration, you will be contacted to complete a background check and paired with a girl.

Registered runners will pick up their race number prior to the 5K start on Sunday, December 7th, from 8:30 am-9:30 am.
NEW = Avoid the packet pickup line on race day by donating to Girls on the Run - DC when you register for the 5K online. For a $10 donation, we will mail your bib number to your home address the week before the race! Note: you must register online by Nov. 15th to choose this option.
NO DAY OF RACE REGISTRATION
In order to alleviate congestion on the course we are instituting a WAVE START. Schools will be assigned one of three colors which will be indicated on their bib number. Schools will be called to the starting line by color.
All GOTR school teams, parents running with their daughters, and community running buddy runners will meet at the soccer field. Signs will be placed on the grass so teams can meet before and after the race.
For your convenience portable toilets will be located at the start/finish area as well as along the course. Pre-race and on-course water will be available, and medical aid will be provided at the finish. As runners finish the 5K there will be an ample supply of food and water for participants.
Please leave your pets, rollerblades and scooters at home! They will not be allowed on the course. Strollers are allowed but we request that you start at the back of the race for the safety of other runners. If you need wheelchair accommodation please contact email@example.com.
The course is closed to traffic and a portion of the course is out and back on a two-lane road. At times there will be faster runners passing slower runners and walkers along the course. Please be considerate of others and stay to the left side of the road to accommodate returning runners. Minding your manners on the course will help everyone have a fun and safe experience.
There is NO parking in the park - only in the Anacostia Metro parking garage. If you try to drive into Anacostia Park you will be turned away. National Park Service Police will close the park entrances at 6:00am. Your best option is to use metro to travel to the GOTR DC 5K. Click here for specific directions.
